Here at Affinity Dental Care, we provide the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique ™, a minimally invasive option for treating gum recession.
Instant results, no incision, no sutures, no grafting!
Gum recession occurs when gum tissue along the gum line wears away. It can result from periodontal disease, aging, or abrasive brushing habits.
Periodontal disease includes conditions such as gingivitis, periodontitis, or advanced periodontitis, all of which can contribute to gum loss.
Dr. Peter Workman is one of the first dentists in the UK to offer the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique® for gum recession.
• Patients feel less discomfort after treatment and recover faster than with traditional gum procedures.
• The technique uses no sutures, making the procedure more comfortable.
• The technique uses no scalpels, keeping it minimally invasive.
Dr. John Chao developed all the tools and methods for the Pinhole Surgical Technique™ and personally trained Dr. Peter Workman in Los Angeles in January 2014.
During the Pinhole Surgical Technique™ (PST™), a tiny needle creates a small hole in your existing gum tissue. Special PST™ instruments are then used to gently loosen and reposition the gum line, covering exposed tooth roots. This technique requires no grafts, sutures, or incisions and simply adjusts your own tissue.
Results can be enhanced using Platelet Rich Fibrin (L-PRF). Dr. Workman takes a small sample of your blood chair-side. Within about ten minutes, the blood is processed naturally with no chemicals and prepared for immediate use to support healing.
The PRF plug contains your growth factors, proteins, platelet cytokines, and regenerative stem cells. This “super biomaterial” stimulates gum repair, accelerates wound healing, and improves the overall success of your PST™ procedure.
Worldwide, only about 1,500 dentists are certified to perform the Pinhole Surgical Technique®. An even smaller group, including Dr. Workman, use L-PRF to enhance results and provide faster, more predictable healing.
